Cannon Beach, the long tide

Four minutes of surf smoothed to fog, the stacks holding still while everything else moved.

The Oregon coast in January has a sea that never settles and a sky that never clears, which is exactly what a four-minute exposure wants. The neutral density filter takes the water to fog and leaves the rocks as the only fixed thing in the frame.

Printed slightly warmer than the rest of the coast work, on the glossy air-dried paper, so the wet stone keeps its shine.
