01 / 03 · Gallatin, first light Mountains · Silver gelatin print The Gallatin Range sits south of town and I have photographed it more than anything else, mostly from the same pull-off on the Hyalite road, mostly in the eleven minutes before the sun clears the Bridgers behind me. This frame is from an October morning with the first snow on the peaks and cloud shadow crossing the foothills at walking pace.
Shot on the GX617 with the 105 mm at f/22 for a quarter second on HP5 Plus, developed in HC-110. The print is dodged along the ridge line so the snow keeps its texture, and burned a full stop across the sky.
